Maximizing the Natural Pathways for High Performing Systems

The image above is of flamingoes in Veta la Palma: a fish farm located in Spain (made famous by the chef Dan Barber). It is an example of natural and built environments working together to create a healthy and high-functioning ecosystem. I believe large organizations operate similarly: to gain or maintain high performance, one must leverage the existing skills and relationships. Sustainable growth must include intentional design.

In my work, I maintain an ecological perspective to plan and execute effectively. This includes a systems view to clarify strategy, a humanistic view to design valuable experiences, and an unquenchable optimism for the capacity of people to grow and develop.

“Learning is a fascinating process. Whether it is a rote skill or a complex, nuanced concept, we should never stray far from the human connection points with the learner — even as emerging technology continues to be a part of our work. These are of course that clarity is kindness, people change when they are given a good enough reason, and respecting a person’s time will always yield more productive, lasting results.”
